The short answer
Seminyak nightlife is the dressed up night out in Bali, and it is worth the trip from Canggu or Pererenan for a Friday or Saturday. Our picks: sunset at Potato Head or KU DE TA, dinner and DJs at Da Maria, La Favela from 10pm, then ShiShi, the proper club, which runs until 4am. Go after the sunset traffic, stay on Petitenget, and book your ride home before you leave.
Who this is not for. If you want a casual night you can walk to in flip flops, Seminyak will feel like hard work from Canggu: the dress codes are stricter and the drive is real. Our twin guide, Canggu nightlife, night by night, covers that side. For clifftop sunsets and fewer, planned nights, see the other twin, Uluwatu nightlife, night by night.

Where is the nightlife in Seminyak?
A quick word first: we do not have villas in Seminyak. Our nearest is Vela Villas in Pererenan, on the Canggu side, and this guide is written for people staying there, or anywhere else, who head into Seminyak for a night out.
Seminyak at night is really one long strip. Jalan Petitenget is the heart of it: the beach clubs on the sand, Da Maria, The Iron Fairies and ShiShi further up the road. Jalan Kayu Aya and Jalan Laksamana Oberoi run south from there, with KU DE TA on the beach and La Favela on the street. Jalan Camplung Tanduk, further south again, is the small strip with Bali's best known drag bars. Further south still is Legian and Kuta, home of Sky Garden, which we have left out of the list because we could not confirm its 2026 schedule.
The pattern that works: start at sunset on the beach, eat on Petitenget, and move up the same road as the night goes on. Still choosing where to base your whole trip? Read Canggu vs Seminyak and Uluwatu vs Seminyak.
How far is Seminyak from Canggu and Pererenan?
Closer than it feels at sunset. Northern Seminyak around Petitenget is about 6km from Berawa, and southern Seminyak to Batu Bolong or Pererenan is closer to 12km. A transport guide updated in August 2026 puts the drive at around 30 to 40 minutes late at night, after 9:30pm. In the sunset rush, between around 4:30pm and 8pm, the same trip can take 75 to 100 minutes or more.
- Late evening: leave Canggu or Pererenan after 8pm and you skip the worst of it.
- Sunset plan: if you want sunset at Potato Head or KU DE TA, leave early in the afternoon, then stay in Seminyak for dinner rather than going back.
- The coast road: the usual route runs along Jalan Batu Belig and over the bridge to Berawa. The back roads between Berawa and Batu Bolong are narrow and poorly lit at night.
Our breakdown of the two ride apps is in Grab vs Gojek in Bali.
The best bars and clubs, one by one
Potato Head Beach Club | the sunset that sets the tone
The beach club at Desa Potato Head on Jalan Petitenget is where most Seminyak nights start. Resident DJs play every day, and the club is open until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and until 2am on Friday and Saturday. It runs one off sunset parties through the year too, so check the experiences page for what is on that week.
Who it suits: anyone who wants a big beachfront sunset with good music and a crowd. The caveat: it is a beach club, not a nightclub, so plan where you go after.
KU DE TA | the original beach club
KU DE TA on Jalan Kayu Aya has been on Seminyak beach for more than two decades and opens daily from 8am until late. Sunday is a beachfront market in the daytime, and its White Party is the big night of the year, held in August with a 6pm to 4am run in 2026. Sundown cocktail offers run from 6pm.
Who it suits: a dressier sunset with dinner on the beach. The caveat: outside the big event nights it is more sunset and supper than dancefloor.
La Plancha | the easy beach bar sunset
The colourful beanbags on the sand south of KU DE TA. La Plancha is a casual beach bar that opens from 7:30am to 11pm daily and fills up for sunset.
Who it suits: a relaxed start with your feet in the sand, before you dress up for later. Not a club, and that is the point.
Mrs Sippy | the Saturday afternoon pool party
A pool club tucked down a lane off Petitenget, open daily from 10am to 9pm. On Saturdays it runs a hip hop pool party, listed in 2026 from early afternoon into the evening.
Who it suits: groups who want a party in the daytime and a night out after. The caveat: it closes at 9pm, so it is the warm up, not the night. For more daytime pools and day passes, see our Canggu beach clubs guide.
Motel Mexicola | the neon cantina
Motel Mexicola on Jalan Kayu Jati, just off Petitenget, opens daily from 11am and marked its 13th anniversary in April 2026. Tacos, margaritas and a room that turns from dinner into a party as the night goes on.
Who it suits: a big group dinner that ends with dancing. The caveat: there is no fixed weekly party night we could confirm, so check their Instagram this week.
Da Maria | the dinner that becomes a dancefloor
An Italian restaurant on Jalan Petitenget that turns into one of Seminyak's busiest late spots. Wednesday is INNO, an R&B and hip hop night with DJs from 9pm, and Friday is Say Less, a weekly night with a rotating line-up from 8pm. The INNO listing asks guest list arrivals to come before midnight.
Who it suits: people who want to eat well and stay out in the same place. Book dinner and you are already inside when the music turns up.
The Iron Fairies | the Tuesday night
A fantasy themed bar and club on Jalan Petitenget, with live bands and DJs. Tuesday is its signature night, Dust, from 9pm until late, and it doubles as a ladies' night.
Who it suits: the midweek crowd that wants somewhere busy on a Tuesday. The caveat: it is a themed room, so expect a show as much as a bar.
La Favela | the late jungle bar
La Favela on Jalan Laksamana Oberoi is a maze of vintage rooms and garden bars. Rocinha, its restaurant, serves dinner daily from 7pm to 11pm, and the party nights run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10pm until late.
Who it suits: anyone who wants a loud, mixed crowd and a room to explore. The caveat: it gets packed, and there is a smart casual dress code, so leave the flip flops at home.
ShiShi | the proper nightclub
ShiShi on Jalan Petitenget is Seminyak's big club: three floors with two nightclubs, a lounge and a restaurant, and it is listed in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs for 2026. It opens every day, with the izakaya lounge from 6pm and the clubs from 10pm to 4am, and its rooms split into a main club and an R&B and hip hop club.
Who it suits: people who want a real club night with international DJs. The caveat: the dress code is strict, with no singlets, sandals, hats or beachwear, so dress up.
Bali Joe and Mixwell | the drag strip
Two bars on Jalan Camplung Tanduk, the small strip south of the main Seminyak roads. Bali Joe is busy every night with drag shows, and Mixwell is on the same street.
Who it suits: a fun, welcoming night out with a show. The caveat: show times move, so check their Instagram this week.
Which night is big where?
These are the regular nights that a 2026 listing or the venue's own site confirms. Line-ups and guest DJs change, so check each venue's Instagram for this week before you go.
| Night | Where | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | ShiShi, Potato Head Beach Club | Clubs from 10pm; beach club open until midnight |
| Tuesday | The Iron Fairies | Dust, from 9pm until late |
| Wednesday | Da Maria | INNO R&B and hip hop, DJs from 9pm |
| Thursday | La Favela, ShiShi | Party nights start, from 10pm; clubs until 4am |
| Friday | Da Maria, La Favela, Potato Head Beach Club | Say Less from 8pm; from 10pm; open until 2am |
| Saturday | Mrs Sippy, La Favela, Potato Head Beach Club | Hip hop pool party in the afternoon; from 10pm; open until 2am |
| Sunday | KU DE TA, ShiShi | Beach market from 10am to 4pm; clubs from 10pm |
| Every night | ShiShi, Motel Mexicola, Bali Joe | Clubs 10pm to 4am; open from 11am; drag shows |
Hours and prices move. Treat these as a guide and confirm with the venue before you go.

How do you get home safely?
Getting home from Seminyak is easier than from the Bukit. Grab and Gojek both work across Seminyak, and a 2026 transport guide says there are no app pickup restrictions leaving the area. The harder part is the end of the night: Petitenget and Kayu Aya jam up as the clubs empty, waits get longer, and prices surge late and in heavy rain. The return to Canggu or Pererenan is around 30 to 40 minutes once the roads clear.
- Best option: book a driver for the return trip before you go out, especially if you are heading back to Pererenan.
- Using the apps: walk to a quieter side street off Petitenget before you book, and do not leave it until 4am.
- Stay on one strip: start, eat and finish on Petitenget so you only need one ride home.
- Do not ride a scooter after drinking. It is a long ride home on dark roads, North Kuta police extended night patrols and spot checks to weeknights in 2026, and travel insurers often refuse claims where the rider had been drinking or lacked the right licence. Our scooter rental guide covers the licence rules.
Cabo tip: Agree your ride home before you leave the villa, not at the club. Save the driver's WhatsApp, share a pin of the venue, and set a pickup time you can push later with a message. If you are staying with us, ask the team to line up a driver when you plan your night.
Key takeaways
- Seminyak is Bali's dressier night out, and from Canggu or Pererenan it is a planned trip, not a stroll.
- Leave after the sunset rush: around 30 to 40 minutes late at night, over an hour between 4:30pm and 8pm.
- Tuesday is The Iron Fairies, Wednesday and Friday are Da Maria, Thursday to Saturday is La Favela.
- ShiShi is the proper club, every night from 10pm to 4am.
- Book your ride home before you go out, and never ride a scooter back after drinking.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Seminyak from Canggu and Pererenan at night?
Northern Seminyak around Petitenget is about 6km from Berawa, and southern Seminyak to Batu Bolong or Pererenan is closer to 12km. A 2026 transport guide puts the drive at around 30 to 40 minutes after 9:30pm, but 75 to 100 minutes or more in the sunset rush between 4:30pm and 8pm. Leave after the rush, or go early and stay for dinner.
What is the best night to go out in Seminyak?
Friday and Saturday are the big ones, with Da Maria's Say Less Fridays, La Favela's party nights from 10pm and Potato Head open until 2am. Midweek, Tuesday is Dust at The Iron Fairies and Wednesday is the INNO R&B and hip hop night at Da Maria. ShiShi's clubs run every night from 10pm. Check each venue's Instagram on the day, because line-ups change.
What time do clubs close in Seminyak?
ShiShi lists its clubs from 10pm to 4am every night, and La Favela runs from 10pm until late on Thursday to Saturday. Potato Head Beach Club is open until 2am on Friday and Saturday and until midnight the rest of the week. Many bars on the main strips wind down earlier, so check the venue before you plan a late one.
Can I get a Grab or Gojek back to Canggu from Seminyak?
Yes, in most cases. A 2026 transport guide says there are no app pickup restrictions leaving Seminyak, which makes it easier than the Bukit. Waits and prices rise late and in heavy rain, and the main roads jam at closing time, so walk to a quieter side street before you book, or arrange your return ride before you go out.
Is Seminyak nightlife better than Canggu?
It is different. Seminyak is dressier, with a proper nightclub in ShiShi, a famous late bar in La Favela and the big Petitenget beach clubs. Canggu is more casual and walkable, with a big night somewhere almost every night. If you are staying in Canggu or Pererenan, Seminyak is a planned night out, not a stroll, so pick it for a Friday or Saturday.
Does Cabo have villas in Seminyak?
No. Our nearest villa to Seminyak is Vela Villas in Pererenan, on the Canggu side, which is quieter at night and a drive of around 30 to 40 minutes from Seminyak late in the evening. If going out in Seminyak every night is the point of your trip, staying in Seminyak itself will keep your rides home short.
