Ettore Gelato | the one Pererenan queues for
Italian owned, Jalan Pantai Pererenan, open late morning until midnight. The texture gives it away: dense, cold, not aerated, nothing tasting of syrup. Judge it on the pistachio and the dark chocolate, and the coffee one actually tastes of coffee. Service can feel rushed at peak, so know what you want before the counter. Gelato Factory | Uluwatu's default, twice
Two sites. The Labuansait kiosk runs to 11:30pm and usually has a queue, which is the honest signal. The Single Fin branch shuts around 9:30pm, so pair that one with an afternoon at the Uluwatu beach clubs. Fruit flavours and sorbets are the strength, and consistency is why it wins Uluwatu.
Sandara Gelato | the vegan-friendly one
Two shops, Jalan Raya Uluwatu in Ungasan and Labuansait. Smaller and calmer, and the pick if someone is dairy free, because the vegan flavours are held to the same standard as the rest. Staff let you taste before you commit.
Gaya Gelato | Bingin, on foot
A tiny counter on Jalan Pantai Bingin with two seats outside. Lime mint in the heat, pistachio and peanut butter if you want rich. New and small, so a local find rather than an institution, and walkable from Bingin.
KANU Coffee and Gelato | coffee and a scoop in one stop
Also Jalan Pantai Bingin, open 6am to 10pm, the earliest dessert in the south. Dairy free and gluten free gelato that does not taste like a compromise, good espresso, shaded seating. The stop for when half the group wants coffee.
Skip the gelato counter by the Padang Padang beach gate. It charges the most and delivers the least, and you are ten minutes from three better ones.
Best cookies, donuts and bakes
Dang! Cookies | the cookie everyone means
Four shops: Pererenan, Batu Mejan, Semat and Jalan Pantai Bingin. Thick New York style, crisp edge, soft middle. Ginny, the white chocolate biscoff one, is the bestseller and the sweetest thing on this page, and the vegan double chocolate is good rather than merely vegan. Too sweet for you? Momma Cookies on Padang Linjong is softer and better value. Ask for either reheated.
Milk and Honey Bakery | bomboloni made to order
Tiyingtutul, Pererenan, open midday until after midnight. Filled when you order rather than sitting glazed on a tray, which is why the cream ones are worth a detour. Crème brûlée and cream cheese are the two. Takeaway only, no seating.
Dough Darlings | the chewy bubble donut
Jalan Raya Semat, Canggu. Lighter and chewier than a classic donut, sold by the box, with vegan options regulars choose on purpose. Good coffee, real seating, open to 9pm, easiest of the lot to share. For the gym version, HiLo in Berawa bakes its donuts to about 15g of protein each.

Best frozen yogurt in Bali
MIYO | the froyo people queue for
Jalan Pantai Pererenan. Thick Greek style yogurt, self serve, priced by weight. Biscoff and mango are the crowd picks. Watch the scales: one cup can pass IDR 150,000 because the toppings weigh more than the yogurt. Closed Mondays, opens at 3pm, which catches people out.
Milos | the Uluwatu answer, with no bill shock
Labuansait, Pecatu, open midday to 11pm. Greek yogurt with no sugar in the base, so the sweetness comes from what you put on top: fresh mango, crunchy dark chocolate, sugar free keto granola. The part that matters is the price, per cup rather than per gram, so you know the number before you start. Cabo guests get a benefit here on top of that.
PARÁ Treats | froyo and açaí together
Jalan Nelayan, Canggu. Lighter than MIYO, and the one if you want fruit, smoothies and açaí in a single stop. Cheapest per gram nearby is Yogurt Republic at Canggu Plaza, about IDR 29,000 per 100g.
Froyo is priced by weight everywhere in Bali. The yogurt is cheap and the toppings are not, so load fruit first and add the chocolate and mochi last.

The cheapest and most interesting desserts in Bali are not in a dessert shop. Klepon are palm sugar filled rice balls rolled in coconut that burst when you bite them, dadar gulung is a pandan crêpe with the same filling, and es campur, shaved ice with syrup and fruit, is the right answer at 2pm in the sun. Buy them at a morning market for IDR 5,000 to 15,000, not a café at ten times that.
