The Best Restaurants in Uluwatu (2026)

By Rissa Prima, Digital Marketing Manager, Cabo Bali · Updated 9 October 2026 · 10 min read · Our honest local take: we live and work on the Bukit, eat out here every week, and send guests to these tables all year.

The short answer

Uluwatu is now one of Bali's best places to eat, and most of the good tables sit within five minutes of each other on Jalan Labuansait. For a date night, book Yuki (Japanese izakaya), Kala (Greek grill) or Gooseberry (French, above Bingin). For the best meat on the Bukit, Papi Sapi. For value, Satu and Warung Local plate nasi campur from about IDR 35k. Budget IDR 300k to 600k a head for a good dinner with a drink, checked October 2026.

Quick answer

  • Best date night: Yuki for Japanese izakaya and cocktails, or Gooseberry for French above Bingin
  • Best grill: Papi Sapi, the best meat in Uluwatu
  • Best for a group: Masonry (wood-fired share plates) and Kala (Greek grill)
  • Best sunset dinner: Teja on the cliff, or Mana for a pool and a view

  • Best value: Warung Local, nasi campur from about IDR 35k a plate

Why Uluwatu is one of Bali's best places to eat

Uluwatu has gone from a surf outpost to one of Bali's strongest dining scenes in a few years, and the reason is concentration. Most of the restaurants worth booking sit on or just off Jalan Labuansait, the road that runs past Padang Padang, Suluban and the turn to Bingin. Greek, Japanese, French, Lebanese, Italian and Indonesian are all within a five-minute scooter ride, so you can do sunset on the cliffs and still be at dinner by 7pm.

We have left out the beach clubs (they have their own guide), the cafés (see the best coffee spots in Uluwatu and the best healthy cafés and acai bowls) and anything we would not happily send our own guests to. Every place below was checked as open in October 2026.

The best restaurants in Uluwatu, our honest take

Yuki | best date night

Yuki is a moody, design-led Japanese izakaya on Jalan Labuansait and the dinner we recommend most to couples. Dark interiors, smoky yakitori, raw bites and properly inventive cocktails. Our own favourite order is the wagyu beef sando, then the torched salmon maki, and try the Off to Tokyo cocktail with its wasabi and furikake rim. Yuki is Australian and Indonesian owned, and it shows in a menu that mixes Tokyo bar food with Bali produce.

What to know: It is dark, buzzy and loud by 8pm, and the cocktails add up fast. Come for the night, not a quick bite. Price guide: Maki from IDR 100k; IDR 400k to 700k a head with cocktails.

Kala | best Greek, best for a group

Kala is a modern Greek grill on Jalan Labuansait built around an open kitchen and a wood fire, and it is the table we book when friends are in town. Share the feta flatbread, lamb kofta and spanakopita, then let the grill do the rest. Natural wine and regular events keep it lively. It is also one of the team's own favourite date spots: the food is excellent, and the staff are some of the best trained on the Bukit, alongside Masonry.

What to know: It is one of the hardest tables to get on the Bukit. Book days ahead in peak season, and know that sharing plates make the bill creep. Price guide: Mains from IDR 160k.

Papi Sapi | best grill, best meat

Papi Sapi is a neighbourhood grill on Jalan Labuansait built around meat, and for us it is the best grill and the best meat in Uluwatu. You pick your own cut before you order, and every plate comes with a tasty side and a homemade sauce included. Our order is the tenderloin steak, which is incredible. There is a proper cocktail list alongside. It is open daily from 4pm to 11:30pm, and you can reserve online or walk in. papisapi.com

What to know: It is a meat-first menu, so it is not the pick for a vegetarian group, and it fills up from 7pm, so book. Price guide: check the current menu online; a side and sauce come with every cut.

Gooseberry | best French, best special occasion

Gooseberry is a modern French restaurant tucked above Bingin beach, with classical technique, a wood grill and a serious wine list. The bone marrow, the foie gras and the crème brûlée are the reasons people come back. It runs breakfast to dinner, but dinner is the event.

What to know: Portions can feel modest for the price, the access lane is narrow, and it runs a screen-free policy. Book, and take a driver if you are not confident on a scooter. Price guide: Mains IDR 265k to 595k, plus 10% tax and 7% service.

Teja | best sunset dinner

A sunset toast on the cliffs at Teja in Uluwatu
Sunset at Teja, Uluwatu

Teja is a clifftop live-fire restaurant doing dry-aged fish and flame-grilled steaks with the ocean in front of you. The four-day dry-aged snapper is the dish to order, and sunset cocktails here are a Cabo favourite.

What to know: The sunset tables go first and the view carries a premium. If you only want the view, come for a drink at golden hour and eat elsewhere. Price guide: Mains from IDR 150k.

Masonry | best share plates

Masonry is a wood-fired Mediterranean kitchen on Jalan Labuansait built for sharing. The sweet corn croquettes, lamb kleftiko and 48-hour short rib are the order, with a good cocktail list alongside. The service is as polished as anywhere in Uluwatu.

What to know: Share plates are easy to over-order. For two people, four plates is usually plenty. Price guide: Mains from IDR 150k.

Bartolo | best bistro

Bartolo is a French-Italian bistro that feels like a neighbourhood wine bar. Steak tartare, market clams and beef bourguignon are the classics, and happy hour runs 5pm to 7pm.

What to know: It is dinner only, from 5pm. Do not plan a lunch around it. Price guide: Mains from IDR 90k.

Ulu Fish Market | best casual dinner, kids or friends

Ulu Fish Market does fresh seafood with a Japanese-Peruvian accent, from blackened tuna sashimi to fresh catch plates. It has some of the best seafood in Uluwatu and it is properly casual, the kind of place you can turn up to barefoot. It works for kids, with a playground so parents can actually finish a meal, and just as well for a relaxed dinner with friends. It runs regular events and live music nights, and on Fridays it is where the crowd heads after sunset at Mana. It has done so well that the team has opened a second Ulu Fish in Bingin, this one over two storeys.

What to know: It is lively and laid back rather than intimate. Pick somewhere else for a quiet anniversary dinner. Price guide: Mains from IDR 130k.

Ours | best all-day restaurant

Ours calls itself the Bukit's all-day restaurant, and it earns it: open 8am to 11pm on Jalan Labuansait, Mediterranean food in a calm Scandinavian-Balinese room. Breakfast is strong (the Moroccan eggs on sourdough), happy hour runs 4pm to 6pm, and Tuesday and Thursday are pasta nights.

What to know: Weekend evenings fill up. Book or arrive early. Price guide: Pastas IDR 79k on Tuesday and Thursday pasta nights.

Osteria Luna | best Italian

Osteria Luna is a newer Italian on the Padang Padang road that has built a following fast, mostly on the rigatoni alla vodka with stracciatella. 48-hour fermented pizzas, proper pasta and a romantic room. They also deliver to villas in the area.

What to know: It is newer than most places on this list, so it has less track record. The bill climbs quickly if you move from pizza to the steaks. Price guide: Pizzas IDR 115k to 150k; pastas from IDR 185k.

Mana | best pool and view

The sunset terrace at Mana restaurant in Uluwatu

Mana sits on the cliffs at Uluwatu Surf Villas with an infinity pool and one of the best sunset outlooks on the Bukit. Potato bravas, Baja tacos and a cold drink while the sun drops is the move.

What to know: You are paying for the view, and it gets busy at sunset. The food is good, not destination-level. Price guide: Mains from IDR 105k.

Zali | best Lebanese, best healthy dinner

Zali is a modern Lebanese kitchen near Suluban, open from breakfast to late. Hummus fatteh, falafel and mixed grill skewers make it the easy answer when a group wants something fresh and shareable that is not another pizza.

What to know: It is casual. Great for a relaxed family dinner, less so for a dress-up night. Price guide: Mains from IDR 90k.

Tabu | best night out

Tabu is a Japanese-Mexican supper club from the team behind Ours, with DJs and a late crowd. Yellowfin tuna tostadas, softshell crab and unagi rolls, and picanha skewers set you up for the night.

What to know: There is a dress code and it is more party than dinner. Not the place for a quiet meal or young kids. Price guide: Mains from IDR 125k.

Warung Local | best value

Warung Local is a buffet-style Indonesian warung on Jalan Labuansait where you point at what you want and build your plate: rice, rendang, tempeh, tofu and vegetables, with vegan dishes labelled. It is the best-value lunch on the strip and the one most guests have already heard of.

What to know: No ambience to speak of, and the trays are freshest at lunch. Go before 2pm. Price guide: About IDR 35k a plate.

Local tip: if the queue at Warung Local is out the door, walk on to Satu or Yeye's Warung, both on Jalan Labuansait. Both are buffet style with great Indonesian food, and the queues are usually shorter, especially at dinner. If we are honest, Satu is the one we pick ourselves. Driving past Satu late? In roughly the last hour before closing, whatever is left on the buffet goes at half price. The best dishes are usually gone by then, so treat it as a bonus, not a plan.

What most Uluwatu food guides get wrong

Most "best restaurants in Uluwatu" lists are 30 places long and treat every one as a must. In reality the Bukit has around a dozen restaurants we would build an evening around, and they cluster on one road. Four things nobody tells you:

  • The menu price is not the bill. Most sit-down restaurants add 10% tax plus a service charge (Gooseberry, for example, adds 7% service), so budget about 15% to 20% on top.
  • Sunset and dinner are two different places. The cliff view at Teja or Mana carries a premium. Do golden hour with a drink there, then eat on Labuansait.
  • Dinner is 7pm to 9pm, and the good tables go first. We recommend booking every sit-down restaurant on this list in advance. Staying with us? Our guest concierge can book it for you on WhatsApp.
  • Peak season changes everything. In July, August and the Christmas weeks, Yuki, Kala and Gooseberry book out days ahead. Book the big dinners the day you land.

Cabo guest perks at Uluwatu restaurants

Staying in a Cabo villa? Yuki, Ours and Osteria Luna each have a benefit reserved for Cabo guests. How to use each one is in your booking confirmation, and the team can book your table on WhatsApp.

The other restaurants on this list are not Cabo partners and are full price. They are here on merit, not because anyone paid to be included.

Staying in Bingin? Gooseberry and the second, two-storey Ulu Fish are on your doorstep. Staying in central Uluwatu? Yuki, Kala, Papi Sapi, Masonry, Ours and Warung Local are all on Jalan Labuansait.

Pro tip: Book your one big dinner (Yuki, Kala or Gooseberry) for your second or third night, not the first. You will have your bearings, you will not be jet-lagged, and you will know whether you want a loud night or a quiet one. Fill the other nights with walk-ins on Labuansait.

Key takeaways

  • Yuki is our pick for a date night. Kala is the best Greek and Papi Sapi the best grill (order the tenderloin), all on Jalan Labuansait.

  • Ulu Fish Market is the easy, barefoot dinner. Great seafood, good for kids or friends, now with a second two-storey spot in Bingin.
  • Warung Local is the value pick. Buffet-style nasi campur from about IDR 35k a plate; Satu (our own pick) and Yeye's Warung when the queue is long.
