Bali Airport Pickup to Your Villa (2026): Cost, Times & How It Works

By Rissa Prima, Digital Marketing Manager, Cabo Bali | Updated 27 October 2026 | 7 min read | Prices checked October 2026 against current airport, app and transfer rates.

The short answer

From Bali's Ngurah Rai airport, a pre-booked driver costs about IDR 150,000–250,000 to Seminyak, IDR 250,000–350,000 to Canggu, IDR 300,000–400,000 to Uluwatu or Bingin and IDR 350,000–450,000 to Ubud. The drive takes 20–45 minutes to Seminyak, 45–75 to Canggu or Uluwatu and 60–90 to Ubud. Book ahead: the taxi counter is rarely cheaper.

Quick answer

  • Best option for most villa guests: a driver booked before you fly, waiting at arrivals with your name on a board
  • Uluwatu or Bingin: IDR 300,000–400,000, 45–75 minutes
  • Canggu or Pererenan: IDR 250,000–350,000, 45–75 minutes (90+ at evening rush)
  • Seminyak: IDR 150,000–250,000, 20–45 minutes
  • Ubud: IDR 350,000–450,000, 60–90 minutes
  • Grab and Gojek: allowed, from official pickup points a short walk from arrivals
  • Before you fly: e-VOA, the free All Indonesia arrival card and the IDR 150,000 tourist levy
  • Add 30–90 minutes for immigration and bags before the drive even starts

What are your options for getting from Bali airport to your villa?

There are four ways out of Ngurah Rai: a driver your villa or a transfer company books for you, the official airport taxi counter, a Grab or Gojek from the app pickup points, and a hotel shuttle. For a villa stay, only the first two are really in play, and the first is the one we would pick every time.

1. A pre-booked driver (our pick)

A driver booked before you fly tracks your flight, waits at arrivals with your name on a board, loads the bags and drives you to the villa gate. Typical 2026 rates run IDR 150,000–450,000 one way depending on the area, the same range we see when we book drivers for guests. The verdict: the right call for families, anyone with surfboards or more than two bags, any late landing and every villa on the Bukit. It also solves the problem nobody mentions: villa addresses in Bingin and Uluwatu sit down unnamed lanes, and a driver who has been there before saves you a 20-minute hunt in the dark. Our Bali private driver cost guide covers day rates and tipping.

2. The official airport taxi counter

The prepaid taxi counter sits in the arrivals hall and sells a fixed-price ticket by zone, so there is no meter and no haggling. Published 2026 guides put the counter at roughly IDR 150,000–350,000 to Seminyak, IDR 300,000–500,000 to Canggu or Uluwatu and IDR 400,000–650,000 to Ubud. The verdict: a sound fallback if your plans fall through, never a saving. The ticket is to the zone, so a driver who does not know your lane will need directions from your phone.

3. Grab or Gojek from the app pickup points

Both apps operate official pickup points at Ngurah Rai, a few minutes' walk from the arrivals exit; Grab opened its first booth in 2018 and Gojek added GoCar Instant in 2023. Fares are often lower than the counter on the short run to Kuta or Seminyak. The verdict: fine for a light-luggage daytime landing heading to Seminyak or Canggu, poor for families, late flights and the Bukit. You need data to book, evening surges are common when several long-haul flights land together, and an app car may not fit three suitcases and a board bag. Our Grab vs Gojek guide explains why the Bukit is the catch for the rest of your trip.

4. A hotel shuttle

Big resorts in Nusa Dua, Jimbaran and Kuta run their own shuttles. Private villas almost never do, so for a villa stay the equivalent is the driver your host arranges.

How long is the drive from Bali airport, and what does it cost?

From Ngurah Rai, Seminyak is the closest villa area at 20–45 minutes, while Canggu, Pererenan, Uluwatu and Bingin all sit at roughly 45–75 minutes and Ubud at 60–90. Times swing with traffic far more than distance: the same Canggu run can take 45 minutes at midnight and close to two hours at 5pm on a Friday.

One-way, standard car, typical 2026 ranges checked October 2026. Larger vans, child seats and very late landings can cost more. Grab and Gojek quotes vary live, so check the app.

On the Bukit, the drive uses the Bali Mandara toll road part of the way, and the last stretch to Uluwatu and Bingin runs on narrower roads that clog around sunset. Staying in Uluwatu or Bingin? Land before 3pm or after 8pm if you can choose your flight.

What happens between landing and meeting your driver?

Arrival at Ngurah Rai runs in six steps: immigration, baggage, a customs scan of your arrival card, the tourist-levy check, the arrivals hall and then your driver. Three of those steps are fastest if you finish the paperwork before you fly.

  1. Before you fly. Buy the e-VOA (IDR 500,000) on the official evisa.imigrasi.go.id site, fill in the free All Indonesia arrival card at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id within three days of landing, and pay the IDR 150,000 tourist levy on the Love Bali site. All three are .go.id government domains; lookalike sites charge more for the same thing. Our Bali tourist tax guide covers the levy in full.
  2. Immigration. With an e-VOA and a biometric passport you can use the automated gates; otherwise you queue at the visa-on-arrival counter first. Allow 30–45 minutes on a quiet day and up to 90 in peak season.
  3. Baggage claim. Collect your bags. Porters will offer help; agree a price first if you take it.
  4. Customs. An officer scans the QR code from your All Indonesia card. Since September 2025 that one card replaces the old arrival card, customs e-CD and health declaration.
  5. Tourist levy check. Show the Love Bali QR code if asked. Paid already, you walk straight through; not paid, you queue to pay.
  6. Arrivals hall and your driver. SIM and eSIM counters, ATMs and money changers sit in the public arrivals area. Pre-booked drivers wait just outside the exit doors holding name boards. The taxi counter and the signs to the Grab and Gojek pickup points are here too.
The Cabo Bali Arrival Rule: add 60–90 minutes to your landing time for immigration and bags, then the drive on top. A 6pm landing bound for Uluwatu means a villa arrival around 8–9pm, not 7pm. Plan dinner, check-in and any grocery delivery around that number. | Cabo Bali, 2026

What if you land late at night?

Ngurah Rai runs around the clock and many long-haul and Australian flights land between about 9pm and 1am, so late arrivals are normal, but they are exactly when a pre-booked driver earns its money. App fares can surge when several flights land together, the queue for app cars and the counter is longest, and a sleepy driver hunting for a villa lane at midnight is the last thing you want. Book the driver, give them your flight number, and make sure your villa knows your realistic arrival time from the rule above. Flying out late on your last day instead? Our luggage storage guide covers where to leave bags between check-out and your flight.

Pro tip | send your flight number, not your landing time. A driver who has the flight number watches it on a tracker and turns up when you actually clear immigration. A driver who has a time turns up at that time, waits, and either charges for the wait or leaves. It costs you nothing and it is the single most common reason arrivals go wrong.

What do most Bali airport guides get wrong?

Two things: they say Grab and Gojek are banned at the airport, and they treat the drive as the slow part. Both apps have had official pickup points at Ngurah Rai for years, so the ban line is out of date. And on a busy evening, immigration and bags often take longer than the drive to Seminyak. The fix for both is the same: finish your paperwork before you fly, and book a car that waits for you rather than one you have to summon while queuing.

How does an airport pickup work when you stay with Cabo Bali?

Staying in a Cabo Bali villa? Send your flight number to our reservations team on WhatsApp and we arrange a driver to meet you at arrivals and bring you to the villa. Ask for a quote when you book; the price depends on the area and the car. The driver knows the lane, the gate and the villa, which matters most on the Bukit, where our Uluwatu villas and Bingin villas sit, and in Pererenan, home to Vela Villas. Still choosing an area? Start with where to stay in Bali.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an airport pickup in Bali cost in 2026?

A pre-booked private driver from Ngurah Rai airport costs about IDR 150,000–250,000 to Seminyak, IDR 250,000–350,000 to Canggu or Pererenan, IDR 300,000–400,000 to Uluwatu or Bingin and IDR 350,000–450,000 to Ubud. The official airport taxi counter is rarely cheaper, and Grab or Gojek can undercut both on short runs.

How long is the drive from Bali airport to Uluwatu or Canggu?

Plan on 45–75 minutes to Uluwatu or Bingin and 45–75 minutes to Canggu or Pererenan, longer in the 4–7pm rush. Seminyak is 20–45 minutes and Ubud 60–90 minutes. Add 30–90 minutes before that for immigration and bags.

Can I take a Grab or Gojek from Bali airport?

Yes. Both apps run official pickup points at Ngurah Rai, a short walk from the arrivals exit, and staff there can help you book. Check the live in-app quote, expect surges on busy evening arrivals, and remember a pickup back from the Bukit later in your trip is much harder than this one.

Where do pickup drivers wait at Bali airport?

Pre-booked drivers wait in the public arrivals area just outside the exit doors, holding a board with your name. You reach them after immigration, baggage claim, the customs scan and the tourist-levy check.

Do I need to pay the Bali tourist levy before I land?

You should. The levy is IDR 150,000 per person, paid once per trip on the official Love Bali site or app. Paying before you fly means you show a QR code and walk out; leaving it until arrival means queuing at the airport.

Does Cabo Bali arrange airport pickups for guests?

Yes. Staying in a Cabo Bali villa? Send your flight number to our reservations team on WhatsApp and we arrange a driver to meet you at arrivals and bring you to the villa. Ask for a quote when you book; the price depends on the area and the car.
