Solas is a three-storey, three-bedroom villa in Pecatu, Uluwatu, and it is the group villa in our collection. Three equal ensuite bedrooms so nobody argues, a private terrazzo pool, a rooftop sunset bar, and — the part people actually talk about — a private sauna and a genuinely brutal ice bath on site. Stay here if you're travelling as a group of friends, two couples, or a family with grown kids. Look elsewhere if you're a couple wanting something small and intimate, or you want traditional Balinese design: Solas is arches, white render and curved lines, and it looks like nothing else on the Bukit.

The ice bath, specifically
Plenty of Bali villas advertise a "cold plunge" that is a tiled box of tap water at 26°C. Solas is not that. A guest measured it at 1–2°C and wrote that it practically turns into a bowl of slush. Another simply called it the coldest ice bath in Bali. That is the single most quoted thing about this villa, and it is the reason it gets booked over prettier competitors.
It sits next to a private sauna, both on site, both for villa guests only. The sequence — pool, sauna, plunge, rooftop — is why groups end up doing three rounds before dinner instead of one. Verdict: the best amenity in the Cabo collection, and it is not close.
Who Solas is for — and who it's not
Choose Solas if you're booking for a group and you're tired of the bedroom lottery. Three ensuites of equal standing means no one is stuck in the box room off the kitchen, and the rooftop gives everyone somewhere to gather that isn't a bedroom. It's also the right pick if recovery is part of how you travel — sauna and plunge after a surf is a different holiday to sauna and plunge as a novelty.
Not ideal if you're a couple after something small and intimate. Solas is a house and it feels like one; two people rattle around in it. It's also the wrong villa if you want traditional Balinese timber and thatch — this is Mediterranean, and deliberately so. And while guests call the location convenient, Pecatu is still scooter-and-driver territory rather than a village you stroll end to end.
Floor by floor
Ground floor — the social one
Open-plan island kitchen, dining space, and a sunken lounge that steps down toward the private terrazzo pool. The living space opens straight onto the water, which is what makes it work for a group of six rather than feeling like a corridor. Verdict: the best-designed ground floor we manage.
First floor — three equal bedrooms
Three ensuite, air-conditioned bedrooms with arched windows and a shaded terrace. Equal enough that you can allocate them by coin toss. Verdict: the reason group bookings convert here.
Rooftop — the bar
A private rooftop bar and entertainment terrace, open to the sky, with ocean and sunset views over the Bukit. Every group ends up here by six and most stop going out for the first drink entirely. Verdict: it replaces a beach-club sunset, which is worth real money across a week.
The neighbourhood: Pecatu
Solas sits in Pecatu on the south Bukit coastline — Uluwatu's established resort pocket. Guests describe the location as convenient, not far from Bingin Beach, and close to the tourist spots, restaurants and coffee shops. The clifftop beach clubs and the best dining on the Bukit are all within reach, and the airport is roughly 45 minutes to an hour in normal traffic.
Be honest with yourself about transport, though: this is a scooter or driver area rather than somewhere you walk end to end, which is exactly why the villa arranges scooters.
