The Best Pilates Studios in Canggu (2026)

The Best Pilates Studios in Canggu (2026)

By Keanu Fischell, Co-Founder, Cabo Bali · Updated August 2026 · 6 min read · Our honest local take — we book these classes for guests, and we hear about the ones they got locked out of.

The short answer

Canggu has roughly twenty reformer studios — two and a half times Uluwatu — and almost none of them publish a price. Revive has the deepest schedule and the best unlimited membership at IDR 3,200,000, but adds 15% tax and service to every figure it quotes. Sunset Pilates runs the smallest classes and the best rehab work, and requires every newcomer to buy a private first. Native Bali is the best-equipped room, with tower and Cadillac and STOTT-referenced instructors. Pulse has the cleanest way in for a first-timer at IDR 450,000 for three classes. Budget about IDR 300,000 a class, IDR 3,400,000 for an unlimited month, IDR 800,000 for a private. And book days ahead, not hours — the good rooms hold five reformers.

Quick answer

  • Deepest schedule / best unlimited: Revive + Pilates — Tanah Barak (80+ classes a week)
  • Smallest classes and best rehab: Sunset Pilates — Pererenan and Berawa (3–6 people)
  • Best-equipped room: Native Bali Pilates — Jl. Nelayan (reformer, tower, Cadillac, chair)
  • Best first class: Pulse Pilates — IDR 450,000 for a three-class intro
  • Smallest studio in Canggu: Humbl — Pererenan (five reformers, five spots)
  • Confirmed air-conditioned: The Pilates Project — Pererenan
  • Full apparatus on a budget: Lilates — Kerobokan Kaja (Cadillac, chair, barrel)
  • Owner angle: the late-entry rules make proximity a booking factor — see Canggu villa management

Our take, studio by studio

Revive + Pilates — the deepest schedule

Jl. Tanah Barak, Canggu, with a sister studio in Umalas. Reformer, mat and barre, with around eighty classes a week — Sweatformer, Gluteformer, Strongformer, an explicit All Levels slot, and pre and postnatal streams. Mat IDR 230,000, reformer IDR 275,000, credit packs from IDR 1,000,000 for four, unlimited IDR 3,200,000 a month. The verdict: the volume play, and the only Canggu studio where a three-day visitor can reliably find a slot at short notice. Two honest caveats — every price is quoted exclusive of 12.5% tax and 2.5% service, so a 275,000 class is really about 316,000; and the format is music-driven and high-energy, which is the wrong room if you want quiet classical precision.

Sunset Pilates — the smallest classes, and the rehab specialists

Two studios: Pererenan, inside The Block, and Berawa above Made's Warung. Three to six people on reformers — genuinely small. The Berawa site runs the deepest rehabilitation and pre/postnatal offering in Canggu. Group classes IDR 300,000 in Pererenan and IDR 330,000 in Berawa, privates IDR 750,000–800,000, couples privates IDR 950,000, unlimited IDR 3,500,000 a month. Members at Pererenan get an hour of The Block's recovery facilities after class, which nobody else offers. The verdict: the best teaching-to-student ratio in Canggu and the right choice if you are carrying an injury or are pregnant. But read this before you budget — every client new to pilates must book a private first, so your 300,000 trial class is actually an 800,000 commitment. Both sites charge 100% for a cancellation inside twelve hours, and Pererenan is closed on Sundays.

Native Bali Pilates — the best-equipped room

Jl. Nelayan, walkable from Batu Bolong. Premium reformers plus full Cadillac trapeze tables, tower and chair — the most complete apparatus available in a group setting in Canggu — with STOTT-referenced instruction, a maximum of eight per class, and 50-minute sessions. The widest weekend hours here, opening 07:00 on Saturday and Sunday. The verdict: the strongest certification signal of any Canggu studio and the one place you can progress beyond the reformer. Two things to check: the studio does not list air conditioning among its amenities and describes floor-to-ceiling windows and a wall of greenery, so assume warm and ask; and the group classes are explicitly not suitable for pregnant clients. Pricing is not published — expect to ask.

Pulse Pilates — the best way in for a first-timer

Central Canggu. Ten reformer beds and ten mats, air-conditioned, with an intro offer of IDR 450,000 for three classes — Sweat, Strong and Stretch. The verdict: the cleanest on-ramp in Canggu and close to purpose-built for a short stay, because a bigger class also means spots are actually available. The trade-off is exactly that size — ten reformers is not boutique, and individual correction is diluted, so if you want hands-on cueing this is the wrong room. They run their own instructor certification, which cuts both ways: you may be taught by someone recently through their own pipeline rather than a comprehensive BASI or STOTT graduate. Standard pricing beyond the intro pack is not published.

Humbl Pilates — five reformers, five spots

Jl. Pantai Pererenan. Deliberately tiny: five reformers, maximum five people, biomechanically-minded teaching, and a named beginner class — Find Your Passion, 45 minutes, explicitly entry level. The verdict: the most attentive room in Canggu and the single most likely to be fully booked, because there is no slack at all in a five-spot studio. Two structural limits — there are no early-morning and no evening classes, which rules it out for anyone who works, and the cancellation terms live only inside the booking app so you cannot read them before you commit. Pricing is not published. Best for a stayer who can hold a standing weekly slot; a three-day visitor is gambling.

The Pilates Project — air-conditioned, and unforgiving

Jl. Munduk Tengah, Pererenan. Contemporary reformer, mat and strength — Sculpt, Pulse, Strong, Peach Club — and one of only two studios here we could positively confirm is air-conditioned. The verdict: a properly cool room in Canggu is worth going out of your way for. What you accept in return is the least forgiving admin in the area — the studio states plainly that no late entry is permitted and no compensation will be offered, and when we checked a weekday it had no availability at all for the entire day. There is also a hole in the timetable: nothing between noon and 16:00 Monday to Thursday, nothing after noon on Friday or Saturday, and a two-hour Sunday window. Book several days out or do not bother.

Lilates — full apparatus, and the cheapest way in

Gg. Berkat, Kerobokan Kaja, on the Canggu boundary. A traditional Joglo pavilion holding the most complete apparatus inventory in this guide — reformers, Cadillac, Wunda chair, ladder barrel, spine corrector — with a physiotherapy-informed approach and classes reported from around IDR 150,000. The verdict: full-apparatus work at roughly half the going rate, which is remarkable. The catch is the building: a Joglo is an open-sided timber pavilion, so assume no air conditioning and book 08:00, not midday. It is also a genuine drive from Batu Bolong or Berawa, and class sizes and instructor certifications are not published.

Also worth knowing. Billy Pilates runs several branches around Canggu with reformer, tower and stability chair, All Level classes and the most complete amenities here — but it enforces mandatory grip socks and a hard ten-minute late cut-off, after which you are a no-show with no reschedule. Move Pilates Club in Berawa pairs a six-reformer room with a twenty-five-mat room, which is where the reformer-versus-mat confusion below bites hardest.

Five ways a class costs more than the price on the door

Canggu's reformer market is unusually opaque — of the studios we checked, only three publish a full price list. Five mechanisms turn an advertised rate into a bigger number, and none of them is explained before you book:

  1. A compulsory private first. Both Sunset studios require every client new to pilates to buy a private before joining a group class. Day one costs IDR 750,000–800,000, not IDR 300,000.
  2. Tax and service on top. Revive quotes exclusive of 12.5% tax plus 2.5% service. Assume roughly 15% anywhere the words exclusive of appear.
  3. A twelve-hour, one-hundred-per-cent cancellation window. Both Sunset studios charge the full fee for a late cancel or a no-show. A skipped morning costs IDR 300,000.
  4. Grip socks, enforced. Billy Pilates states that participants not wearing socks will not be allowed to join the class. Bare feet or ordinary socks will get you turned away.
  5. Late means locked out, and you lose the money. The Pilates Project permits no late entry and offers no compensation. Billy gives you ten minutes. Sunset gives you twenty. Canggu traffic between Berawa and Pererenan at 08:00 routinely eats twenty-five.
Pro tip — read the equipment, not the class name. Sculpt, Peach Club, Booty and Core, Band Burn Build — several of these are mat classes in rooms holding up to twenty-five people, sold alongside five-to-eight-person reformer classes at similar names and similar prices. Move Pilates Club runs a six-reformer room and a twenty-five-mat room under one brand. If the listing does not say reformer, it is not a reformer class.

Canggu vs Uluwatu

Canggu's scene is roughly two and a half times the size — around twenty reformer studios against seven or eight on the Bukit — and it supports things Uluwatu does not: a multi-branch chain, Lagree and Megaformer specialists, cycling-and-reformer hybrids, infrared-heated mat.

The counterintuitive part is price. Uluwatu drop-ins run roughly IDR 220,000–280,000 against Canggu's 275,000–330,000, so the Bukit is about ten to twenty per cent cheaper despite more expensive accommodation. Canggu's studios carry higher rent and more marketing, and the tax-and-service uplift is more common there. Canggu wins on choice, schedule depth and specialism; Uluwatu wins on price, calm and scenery. Canggu's downside is exactly its density — the good boutique rooms are small, book out days ahead, and enforce strict late rules precisely because demand exceeds supply. Our Uluwatu pilates guide covers the other end.

The Cabo angle

If you own a villa in Canggu, the late-entry rules are quietly working against you. A guest locked out of a IDR 300,000 class because Jl. Raya Canggu ate twenty-five minutes does not blame the traffic — they remember the villa was too far. Proximity to a studio is now a booking factor here in a way it is not in Uluwatu, and the fix is management rather than construction: knowing which studios sit within ten minutes of the villa, booking the slot days ahead rather than the morning of, and telling guests about the grip socks before they turn up without them. Frequently asked questions

How much is reformer pilates in Canggu?

Roughly IDR 275,000 to 330,000 a class, or about IDR 300,000 to 340,000 once tax and service are added where a studio quotes exclusive of them. An unlimited month runs IDR 3,200,000 to 3,500,000 and a private session IDR 750,000 to 800,000.

Which pilates studio in Canggu is best for beginners?

Pulse, for the IDR 450,000 three-class intro pack, or Humbl, which runs a named 45-minute beginner class. Be aware that both Sunset studios require any client new to pilates to book a private session before joining a group class.

Do I need grip socks for pilates in Canggu?

Yes at several studios, and it is enforced — Billy Pilates states that participants not wearing socks will not be allowed to join the class. Most studios sell them, but not always in your size, so bring a pair.

How far ahead should I book a pilates class in Canggu?

Days, not hours. The boutique rooms are small — Humbl has five reformers in total — and when we checked The Pilates Project it showed no availability for an entire weekday. For a short trip, book before you land.

Are Canggu pilates studios air-conditioned?

Fewer than you would expect. The Pilates Project is confirmed air-conditioned and Pulse is reported to be. Lilates is in an open-sided Joglo and Native Bali does not list aircon among its amenities. A midday reformer class in an open pavilion is a materially harder workout, so book early morning or late afternoon if it matters.

Canggu's pilates scene is growing and changing fast, and most studios still do not publish prices — we keep this updated. Written August 2026.
